Why Choose Obscura Vault?

Encrypted before it's stored

AES-256-GCM on every file, on the device, before anything is written. Keys are held in the phone's secure hardware and never leave it.

No accounts, no tracking

No account, no analytics, no tracking — and no network connections at all. Obscura Vault does not talk to us or to anyone else, because there is nothing to send and nowhere to send it.

Your keys, not ours

Your vault opens with a 12-word recovery phrase that only you hold. We can't read your files, and we can't get them back for you — that's the point.

Photos, video, notes, voice

Capture inside Obscura Vault and it goes straight to the vault, never your camera roll. Or bring in what you already have. Notes are searchable; everything is encrypted the same way.

Nothing held back

Every part of the app is free, including moving your vault in and out. There is no tier to buy and nothing to unlock.

Backups you control

Export an encrypted archive that's safe to keep in any cloud and opens only with your phrase — or an unlocked copy, when you mean to hand a file to someone.

Learn More About Obscura Vault

How it works

1. Create your vault

Obscura Vault generates a 12-word recovery phrase. Write it down; it is the only thing that can open your vault.

2. Set a PIN

A six-digit PIN (and Face ID / Touch ID / fingerprint if you like) unlocks the app day to day. Ten wrong tries and it locks; you can choose to have it wipe instead.

3. Add things

Tap + to use the in-app camera like the one you're used to, record a voice memo or write a note. Anything you capture inside Obscura Vault goes straight to your vault and nowhere else. You can also bring in photos, videos and audio files you already have.

4. Get things out

There are two ways to get a copy out. A locked backup stays unreadable and only opens with your recovery phrase — that's the one to keep in cloud storage. An unlocked copy can be opened by anything and anyone, so only make one when you mean to hand a file to someone.

What's inside

  • Photos and video, notes with rich text and search, and voice memos — all in one vault, all encrypted the same way.
  • Available in English and Spanish.

Common Issues

I forgot my PIN

Your recovery phrase gets you back in — the app walks you through it. Your vault stays exactly as it was.

App won't open or crashes

Try restarting your device or reinstalling the app. If the issue persists, contact our support team with your device model and OS version.

I lost my recovery phrase

We can't recover it. Your phrase is never sent to us or stored anywhere but with you — that's what makes the vault yours. If the app is still installed and unlocked, act now: save anything you can't lose, then set up a fresh vault with a new phrase.
